Eric Matthew Frein exits the Pike County Courthouse with police officers after an arraignment in Milford, Pennsylvania, October 31, 2014.

Barbara Rowan of was 14 years old when she was raped and killed in 1984. It was only recently when the culprit George Franz Shaw Jr., 55, of Seminole, Florida, has been arrested.

In 1984, Rowan babysat the three-year-old daughter of Shaw, who was her neighbour. High on methamphetamine, Shaw raped and killed Rowan and dumped her body by a road near the woods in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania.

Along with Shaw, Robert Scott Sanders, 51, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was also charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.

In an affidavit obtained by Seattle Pi, police said Sanders confessed to seeing the "disarrayed" bedroom in Shaw's house where Rowan was raped seeing the 14-year-old girl "laying on the bed" and "not moving."

On Sept. 25, Sanders told detectives that when he went into the room, Rowan's body was inside a black trash bag and Shaw asked for his help. He confessed that he helped the rapist and murderer carry Rowan's body to the car and put it in the trunk.

On Aug. 16, 1984, two weeks after her parents reported her missing, Rowan's body decomposed body was found in a wooded area less than a quarter mile from her family's house. The unsolved murder case was reassigned in 2002 and over the years, new leads were developed.

Rowan was about to enter high school when Shaw raped and murdered her. She just graduated eighth grade from Robert K. Shafer Middle School in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania, at the time, according to Bucks County Courier Times.

In 2014, a Pennsylvania murder case ended with the parents of police Corporal Bryon Dickson forgiving Eric Matthew Frein, the sniper who killed their son outside their barracks.
