MMA fighter Ronda Rousey's fans casting has thrilled Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige.
In his interview with Heroic Hollywood during the recent "Avengers: Age of Ultron" question and answer event, Feige said that he loved the idea of Rousey playing the role of Captain Marvel and he thought that it was an evidence to the strong points of Marvel's characters.
Feige also mentioned that prior to the rise of the internet and social media platforms like Twitter, people who had expressed their desire of playing a certain character had been featured in printed media, such as the Wizard Magazine. For Feige, such situations are proofs of how great the characters were that a broad spectrum of people wanted to play them in films.
While some filmmakers do not bring up the details of their films on social media platforms, some directors keep them from the eyes of the public. However, Rousey's casting as Captain Marvel seemed to be legit, as per Cinema Blend.
Aside from Rousey, other actresses who have been attached to playing the role of the titular superhero in Marvel's first female-led film include Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jennifer Lawrence, among others.
"Captain Marvel" is set to debut in the Phase Three of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. The film joins Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War," Tim Miller's "Deadpool," Scott Derrickson's "Doctor Strange," and Marvel's "Gambit." At this point, exact details on the film's plot, director, lead, characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
Marvel's "Captain Marvel" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 2, 2018.
