Some uncivilized behaviors such as smoking at non-smoking zones, walking on grass, throwing garbage anywhere, fighting in public places and children urinating and defecating anywhere have been witnessed at many temples.

In the afternoon of the New Year's Day, several large crocodiles were lying under the trees at the entertainment area of Longtan Temple Fair. Merchants hung their goods on the tree branches, causing them to break off. Crocodiles hurt the trees and themselves.

Also in the entertainment area, two visitors fought over a game prize. They shouted loudly to each other and shoved the staff that came to dissuade them from fighting. The fight lasted for a few minutes. Finally, the weaker party ran away while the other was left with a bloody nose.

Smoking is not allowed in the Ditan Temple fair, but many visitors ignore this rule. The reporter saw that an elderly person smoked beside the No Smoking sign. Every one, against the wall, huddled around while lined up at the restroom and were reportedly "blowing a cloud."

Bamboo sticks for skewers, disposable spoons of seasoned millet mush and oil tea, napkins, and all kinds of rubbish thrown by visitors were scattered sporadically on the floor of the Changdian Temple fair grounds. The reporter saw that even though there was one waist-high plastic rubbish can in every five to six meters, some visitors turned a blind eye to it.

The same scene happened at food vendors at the Longtan Temple fair. Four or five visitors threw their bamboo sticks on the ground after eating from a pork skewer. Some visitors put the napkins under the chair they were sitting on while drinking seasoned millet mush.

At the Changdian Temple fair, visitors had to line up for the restrooms.  Even though there were many restrooms, some parents asked their children to relieve themselves on the lawn near the restrooms to save time.
