Two Cargo Vessels Collided Near Tokyo Bay with Nine Chinese Sailors Missing

TOKYO: At 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, two cargo vessels collided near Miura port of Japan's Kanagawa prefecture. So far, nine Chinese crewmembers are still missing after the collision.

A Panamanian-flagged vessel was heading to Kobe from the port of Yokohama, when it collided with a South Korean-flagged vessel in the Uraga waterway and sank later, with only several decks drifting on the sea. The bow of the South Korean-flagged vessel was damaged in the accident. Nine Chinese crewmembers were missing after the collision. Japan's coastguard has rescued 11 other Chinese crewmembers. The 14 crewmembers on the South Korean-flagged vessel were unhurt during the collision.

So far, Japan Coast Guard has sent nine patrol ships and a helicopter to the area. The patrol ships and helicopter keep searching for Chinese missing crewmembers.  The accident happened in Japanese waters, near Tokyo Bay of Japan.
