Grant Gustin is Barry Allen in "The Flash."

CW's "The Flash" unveiled its second season with explosive events.

According to Variety, Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein were held accountable for closing the wormhole that posed a threat to Central City in the finale episode of Season 1. However, the incident killed Raymond in the process. As a result, Barry Allen decided to protect Central City and his friends alone.

Along with the powerful metahuman named Atom-Smasher, another speedster with the identity of Jay Garrick came into the scene. Garrick had presumably reached Allen to warn him about the wicked speedster Zoom. Garrick's entry to Allen's universe suggests that either the two speedsters are going to work hand in hand as partners or Garrick may turn out as Allen's another adversary in the process.

As per Spoilers Guide, Iris West informed Allen that he needed to allow his friends to help him save Central City as Atom-Smasher attacks the city. Also, Cisco Ramon worked together with Joe West with his Meta Task Force.

"The Flash" follows Allen, a crime scene investigator who acquires superhuman speed after a lightning strikes him in his laboratory.

The series stars Adam Copeland as Atom-Smasher, Candice Patton as West, Carlos Valdes as Ramon, Jesse Martin as West, Teddy Sears as Garrick, and Grant Gustin as Allen, among others. The cast also includes Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, , Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Dr. Caitlin Snow.

Directed by Ralph Hemecker, "The Flash" Season 2 Episode 1, entitled "The Man Who Saved Central City" aired in the small screen on Oct. 6. Jesse Warn's Episode 2, entitled "Flash of Two Worlds" is set to air on Oct. 13.
