Lea Salonga and Brad Kane performed "A Whole New World" on "Good Morning America" on Oct. 9, 2015.

The cast of the 1992 animated musical fantasy movie "Aladdin" reunited on Oct. 9, Friday, on "Good Morning America" with Lea Salonga and Brad Kane's live performance of the classic song "A Whole New World."

The reunion was intended to celebrate the Blu-ray release of "Aladdin" on Oct. 12. Composer Alan Menken accompanied Salonga and Kane on piano for their performance of "A Whole New World" while some of the animated musical fantasy movie creators watched on.

"We knew this was going to be the magic carpet ride song," Menken said of the song. "And so we just wanted that very romantic feeling of a flight over the city."

It was the first time Salonga and Kane had performed "A Whole New World" since their duet performance performing at the 65th Academy Awards in 1993 of the classic Disney ballad, which won for Best Original Song.

"We did it," Kane said after his "A Whole New World" performance with Salonga on "Good Morning America" and embraced his co-performer.  In an interview with MTV News in August, Kane revealed he has only performed "A Whole New World" twice, first with Salonga and second with his wife "Brooklyn's Finest" actress Sarah Thompson on their wedding day.

Meanwhile, Salonga is starring in a new musical titled "Allegiance," which was inspired by the true-life experience of "Star Trek" star George Takei, according to Broadway World.

Set to open on Nov. 8 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre, "Allegiance" stars Salonga as Kei Kimura and Takei as Sam Kimura along with Telly Leung as Sammu Kimura, Greg Watanabe as Mike Masaoka, Christopheren Nomura as Tatsuo Kimura, Michael K. Lee as Frankie Suzuki and Katie Rose Clarke as Hannah Campbell, among others.
