"Brokeback Mountain" actor Randy Quaid and wife Evi Quaid leave the Canadian Immigration Court after their hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia November 23, 2010.

"Brokeback Mountain" actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi Quaid were arrested in Vermont on Oct. 9, Friday, after trying to cross the United States border from Canada. Regarded as "fugitives from justice" in the U.S., the two were detained at the Highgate Port Of Entry.

In 2010, Randy and his wife had fled north of the border. Prior to this, they failed to appear at a hearing over a California residential burglary case so bench warrants were issued. They claimed that they owned the burglarized home, which they were accused of squatting in.

In a statement, Vermont State Police said U.S. Customs determined both the "Brokeback Mountain" actor and his wife are "fugitives from justice from the State of California" and notified the Vermont State Police of "the outstanding warrants."

Days before their arrest, the Oscar-nominated actor attended a regular check-in and was detained by the Canadian Border Service Agency for being a potential flight risk, which an Immigration and Refugee Board member eventually ruled against, CBC News reported.

On the other hand, Randy was ordered to leave Canada by Oct. 14. He and his wife had been living in Montreal since February 2013.

In 2005, Randy starred in "Brokeback Mountain" as Joe Aguirre, the one who hired Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) to her sheep in the Wyoming mountains through the summer.

Along with Randy, Gyllenhaal and Ledger, "Brokeback Mountain" also starred Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Linda Cardellini, Anna Faris, David Harbour, Roberta Maxwell, Peter McRobbie and Kate Mara, among others.
