Chile forward Alexis Sánchez.

Copa America champions Chile (1-0-0, 3 points) will visit Peru (0-1-0, 0 points) at the Estadio Nacional in Lima on Tuesday, October 13 for a second matchday game in the CONMEBOL 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament.

Jorge Sampaoli's boys are coming off a 2-0 dismantling of favorites Brazil in their opening match last Thursday at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago.

Forwards Eduardo Vargas of Hoffenheim and Alexis Sánchez of Arsenal scored the goals for La Roja at the 72nd and 88th-minute marks, taking advantage of Seleção captain Neymar's absence due to suspension.

"We did what we had to do," said goalkeeper Claudio Bravo of Barcelona, as reported by Yahoo Sports. "We knew that Brazil are a good team and can hit on the counter attack, and we knew how we had to play. We got three points and that's fantastic."

Meanwhile, Peru succumbed to a 0-2 beating in the hands of Colombia in their own opener at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla also on October 8, via Four Four Two.

Two goals in each half from the Colombians buried La Blanquirroja's chances in the match as Ricardo Gareca's resident scorers Claudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerrero were kept silent by Los Cafeteros' defense.

Chile's Sánchez and Arturo Vidal were able to recuperate in time from separate injuries to avoid missing any games for Sampaoli in this tournament. Arsenal and Bayern Munich managers Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola are said to be in close contact with the Chile national team for updates on their prized players' health status.

The predicted result is a 4-1 walkover for Chile.

Peru starting lineup (4-3-3 formation): Gallese; Céspedes, Zambrano, Advincula, Ascues; Cueva, Lobatón, Ballón; Guerrero, Pizarro, Carrillo

Chile starting lineup (4-4-2 formation): Bravo; Isla, Silva, Medel, Jara; Vidal, Valdivia, Beausejour, Díaz; Sánchez, Vargas
