During the Golden Week celebration, the China Railway Corporation (CRC) dispatched additional trains to accommodate over 10 million passengers.

The railway company mobilized 5,312 trains plus 418 more in order to move over 9 million passengers nationwide. At the end of the week-long Golden Week celebration, over 470,000 citizens were expected to travel back to Beijing.

Due to the forecasted 9-percent increase in passenger numbers, the CRC arranged for additional 493 temporary trains.

Other railway stations in several provinces also faced identical situations during the busy national week.

The Jinan West Railway Station, located in Shandong's Jinan capital, sold out all of its rapid transit train tickets by 3 p.m. Monday. Over 54,000 travelers were estimated to ride the station on the following day.

Meanwhile, in Zheijang's Hangzhou capital, an estimated 174,000 passengers would be leaving from a number of railway stations. Overall, 29 temporary trains were mobilized to help cover the influx of passengers.

Guangzhou Railway Corporation, a railway that connects Guangzhou to Shenzen, forecast that over 1.2 million travelers would ride the trains at the Pearl River Delta area located in south China. The said volume would translate to an annual increment of 18 percent.

The Golden Week celebration this year occured from Oct. 1 to 7. It spawns thousands of tourist visits to scenic attractions in China. For the duration of the holiday week this 2014, CRC estimated that 68 million travelers would ride China's railways.
