'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Update: VG247 Apologizes For Scathing "Uncharted 4" Tokyo Game Show Preview

Attendees visit the Gree Inc. booth to play the company's mobile game titles during the Tokyo Game Show 2012 at Makuhari Messe on September 20, 2012 in Chiba, Japan.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" gets an odd review from VG247 which pushed the editor to say his apologies, in behalf of the publication, to the game's developer.

VG 24/7 published a sarcastic article with the title, "Is Uncharted 4: A Thief's End too formulaic?" However, in an unanticipated and utterly embarrassing twist of events, Sony later revealed the explanation behind the repetitive game preview.

According to Sony, the Tokyo Game Show event did not showcase a preview for "Uncharted 4, but a remastered version of "Uncharted 2" for PS4, Kotaku reported.

The online publication has since removed the article from their website and Matt Martin, their editor, published an official public apology to Naughty Dog, VG247 published.

"It's cute to say it's testament to the skill and beautiful artwork of the Naughty Dog team that we mistook a remastered PS3 game for 'Uncharted 4,'" Martin said. "But none of that changes the fact that we massively misrepresented a game to our readers, fans of the Uncharted series and the industry who read VG247."

"The buck stops with the editor of the site, so I'm the one apologising. I should have done it sooner," the editor continued.

VG247 editor also said that he is genuinely sorry for the mistake, the misrepresentation of the game and the upset the report has caused the development team.

Issues aside, the game remains as one of the highly awaited releases for Naughty Dog. "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will roll out in March 18, 2016.
