The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Beijing Municipal Government, and undertaken by Animation Comic Game China Group and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture.

The expo had seven activities for the attendees to enjoy, including talents support, interactive entertainment, digital and internet new technology, animation gaming, animation interactive experience, animation on game carnival and local industrial parks.

Major contests and games were also held, such as the Chinese animation Cosplay Contest, the App creation contest, board games and 2014 expo photo contest, among others.

According to Chinaculture.organ essential part of the expo was the forum, where attendees gained knowledge on governmental guides on the internet culture industry following the principles of being "professional, elaborate and practical."

Locals and foreigners also learned from and enjoyed the summits on mobile games, animation games industry, internet culture and big data, and TVGAME.

By highlighting these activities, the event organizers believed that they have catered to a large scale of people while giving international awareness on digital culture expo. Moreover, the expo promoted Chinese online games that have been gaining recognition globally.

According to CCTV, overseas export sales of Chinese online games were estimated to be $570 million in 2012, almost 20 times the sales over the past decade.
