Nintendo NX is a console-handheld hybrid

According to latest reports, the Japanese company Nintendo may release the NX gaming device in 2016. The company said that it will disclose more details about the device next year.

The device will be designed for use outside the house as well as in the living room. In other words, Nintendo NX is a console-handheld hybrid. Furthermore, Nintendo has started distributing software development kits for its new platform to developers. Publishers could start working on games for the release of the new Nintendo system.

Here are 4 reasons why Nintendo NX release will happen in 2016

3DS Is Old And Wii U Has Failed

David Gibson, Macquarie Capital Securities analyst, said that they are increasingly of the idea that the gaming company may release the NX next year because of the softness of Wii U and 3DS. Since 2012, the firm has sold about 10 million Wii U systems. On the other hand, Sony has sold 20 millions PlayStation 4 consoles so far. PlayStation 4 released a year after Nintendo's device.

Andrew House, Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that they are thankful for the great support from PlayStation fans throughout the world, and they are really humbled that players around the world have continued to choose Playstation 4 as the best place to play.

Nintendo's support from third-party publishers has completely vanished on the Wii U. Serkan Toto, game-industry analyst, said that the Wii U sales have been terrible till date and will not pick up anymore. On the other hand, the 3DS was never as successful as the original DS. It is 5 years old, and its hardware is completely overshadowed by today's tablets and smartphones.

The Japanese firm will see the maximum benefit if it made the jump to something to replace Wii U and 3DS sooner rather than later.

Gaming Company Was Slow With The Wii U

When people first saw the Wii U in 2011, they thought that Nintendo is trying to make something like an iPad. However, the firm began developing the Wii U prototype in 2007 and 2008. According to the company, they were well in development before the birth of tablets.

The company's effort to position the Wii U as something different from the Apple iPad failed. Shigeru Miyamoto, legendary Mario creator, said that the Wii U showed up very late to wow customers. Therefore, if the NX is a good idea now, then the time is passing quickly and the company is completely aware of that.

Software Development Kits

Game developers do have software development kits, Eurogamer.net reported. It means that Nintendo could easily have the NX ready to ship by 2016.

Nintendo may have settled on some major aspects of the hardware design. That's why it has given the tools to make NX games to other firms. The company has likely cemented the major features of the next console and the strength of its processors.

Industry-Leading Chips

According to Polygon, the gaming company is aiming to equip the NX with industry-leading chips. This is a time-sensitive situation. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are two years old. Launching the NX next year will increase the amount of time that the company could have a graphical advantage over competitors.
