‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Theatrical Poster Released – Movie Hints & Mysteries Revealed So Far

Lucasfilm has released Sunday the theatrical poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and as expected tons of clues and questions about the hotly-waited film were dropped at the same time. Among the headliners were the heroes and villains that will duke it out when the movie debuts in early December 2015.

Among the headliners were the heroes and villains that will duke it out when the movie debuts in early December 2015.

Star of the show

Featured prominently in the new Star Wars movie poster, the seventh in the franchise, is Rey that according to Tech Times will be played by Daisy Ridley. Rey is shown in a ready-to-hit pose, wielding a staff that the report said will likely have, on both ends, lightsaber tips.

The Dark Force chief

The evil ones are now collectively known as the First Order and there's gotta be a chief or at least the figure that will make life difficult for the good guys. That would be the hooded Kylo Ren, who as can be seen in the poster dwarfs over Rey and all the other characters - somehow indicating of massive wickedness that will get unleashed soon.

Under the hood, Kylo Ren is Adam Driver, added the Tech Times report.

Hans Solo and Princess Leia

Long-time Star Wars fans looking for Hans Solo and Princess Leia will not be disappointed. Lucasfilm has decided that the two (played by Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, respectively) be given significant slots on the poster. The move tells that Ford and Fisher will continue on their previous roles of thwarting the evil plans by Kylo Ren and company in leading capacity and possibly pick up where they left off in the romance department.

The lovable characters

This latest Star Wars installment is incomplete minus the presence of Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. To provide more fun and light moments though is a new character, which Tech Times identified as a scavenger called Teedo.

New Death Star - the Starkiller

First Order has become more fearsome by rendering the Empire's killer weapon - the Death Star - seems pitiful with its Starkiller that can easily vaporize a solar system. The orb-shaped weapon on the right portion of the poster is but a fraction of this massive annihilator, Tech Times said.

Where is Luke Skywalker?

Prominently skipping the poster is the foremost hero Luke Skywalker, a role that will reprise by Mark Hamill, which raised the question: Is he out of the movie? But the credits indicate Hamill is very much in and his character not on the poster suggests of deliberate maneuver of part of the filmmaker to further heighten Luke's mysterious role when finally, The Force Awakens.

As already revealed, release date of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is December 18 but tickets are confirmed to start selling as early as October 19, BGR reported. And for those who look forward in experiencing the Force in large amounts, Star Wars marathon will run on select theaters in which the six previous episodes will be screened prior to the midnight premiere of the new film, the report added.
