Back in July, rumors came out that Samsung was working on a compact handset that will be called the Galaxy S6 Mini - a small version of the 2015 flagship with powerful specs. It was suggested too that the device was geared for an August release date.
But the appointed date went by and the S6 Mini is nowhere to be found. Now thanks to a leaked GFXBench result, the smaller S6 sibling is likely to become a reality and tussle with Apple's rumored iPhone 6C.
Per G4Games, the device is something to look forward to and going by the details that surfaced so far Sammy and Android fans have a number of reasons to get excited about the Galaxy S6 Mini. Four of them are given below:
S6-like build and design
When the Galaxy S6 touched down earlier this 2015, experts were quick to declare that the device is the best in the series so far. Samsung abandoned its old design language and decided to fashion the S6 by mixing metal and glass. The result is a stunning smartphone that worthy of its flagship status.
The S6 Mini is expected to unbox bearing the same build and design, which reviewers labelled as both gorgeous and stunning, only this time in smaller package.
Compact size
The information obtained by G4Games showed that the device with model number SM-W2016 is a 4.6-inch handset, indicating that like its upcoming rival - the iPhone 6C that likely will sport a 4-inch screen profile - the S6 Mini is a compact device that easily slides in and out of the pocket.
Powerful specs
But small as the footprint would be, it looks like that Samsung is making sure that cute and pretty Galaxy S6 Mini is packed with power under the hood. The horsepower will be generated by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processing chip with the brimming support supplied by 3GB of RAM.
Included in the package is a Mali-T760 MP8 GPU that fires up the S6 Mini's 1280 x 768 screen resolution. The on-board memory, according to the GFXBench document, is 64GB but like its bigger Galaxy 2015 brothers, expanding the storage space is likely not an option.
The S6 Mini will unpack with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Killer camera
As camera is now a major smartphone draw, Samsung has unsurprisingly laced the Galaxy S6 Mini with high-end shooting specs. The rear camera is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor with the following premium specs - HDR, face detection and auto focus.
Completing the package is a 5MP front-facing camera that surely is a selfie delight.
Samsung is yet to officially comment on the Galaxy S6 Mini so the device remains in the rumor zone, more so its supposed release date but a safe bet would be anytime in the remaining months of 2015.
