To better compete with the iPhone 6S, Samsung is reportedly pulling the wraps of the rumored Galaxy S7 as early as January 2016, likely using the CES Las Vegas as launch platform, with the actual release date to follow shortly or relatively earlier than the Galaxy S6 outing this 2015.

According to Samsung fan site SamMobile, the Galaxy S7 unveiling is likely to unbox ahead of expectations with Korean media reports pointing to January 19 as D-Day. But the likelihood of seeing the S6 replacement in the first week of the month is not being ruled out as Samsung could make use of the CES 2016 as launch pad for its first flagship offering in the year. The event kicks off January 6 and ends on the ninth.

Regardless of the exact rollout timing, details on the upcoming flagship device now abound and while they remain as rumors for now they still point to the following specs and features that supposedly will unbox with the Galaxy S7:

Same build and design, two models

Metal and glass made the Galaxy S6 a premium device and Samsung is only expected to continue with this design and build approach for the new flagship. And like the S6, the Galaxy S7 will be made available in two variants, described by SamMobile as Premium and Sub-premium.

Glass and magnesium build

The buzz coming from China indicates that the S7 will boast of a unibody shell. "Samsung's upcoming flagship will not be wrapped in a CNC machined block of metal. Instead, it will most likely feature a new, stronger chassis built from magnesium alloy ... It will have a glass back panel," G4Games reports.

SD 820 and Exynos 8890 M1 chips

Samsung is said to jointly develop the upcoming Snapdragon 820 with Qualcomm so by default the mighty processor will power the Galaxy S7. But this will only be true for specific models and markets where the S7 is destined as the device will also likely rely on Samsung's equally capable in-house CPU - the Exynos 8890 codenamed M1.

32-bit audio converter

Joining the top-tier inner components geared for the Galaxy S7 is a 32-bit stereo D/A converter labelled SABRE9018AQ2M, which should pretty much ensure that the handset will boast of "unprecedented audio quality."

Answer to Apple's 3D Touch - ClearForce

Unsurprisingly, Samsung is matching the iPhone 6S that introduced Force Touch or 3D Touch. Samsung's answer, BGR said, is ClearForce, which will be made possible with the Korean tech giant closely collaborating with Synaptics.

USB Type-C connectivity

Part of the Galaxy S7 package is USB Type-C connectivity, which tells that Samsung is adopting the emerging wired connectivity standard into its flagship line up. This indicates as well to superfast data transfer and quick charging for the GS7.

Insane camera capabilities

One of the rumored killer features of the Samsung Galaxy S7 on release date is a dual-camera combo, headlined by a 20-megapixel ISOCELL rear camera. The front camera sensor is to range between 5MP and 8MP.
