While other women would be happy to see a slimmer version of themselves, actress and singer Zendaya is not happy being Photoshopped. She criticized Modeliste magazine for using the photo editing software on her thigh, hips and torso.

Zendaya says she is shocked by the manipulated images she saw. She wrote in Instagram, "These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have."

The 19-year-old celebrity adds, "Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love." Zendaya added the unretouched images in the Instagram post.

When the magazine found out the singer's discontent, Modeliste removed the retouched images. In gratitude for heeding her request, Zendaya thanked the magazine which did the pictorial at Puerto Vallarta.

With her action, Zendaya joins other celebrities such as Tyra Banks who speak against the too much emphasis on very thin body images which many consider as the ideal for women. Tyra once rejected a female model who was anorexic in her top-rating "America's Next Top Model" show.

What Zendaya did contrasts with what happened to a Filipina actress who did a photoshoot for the calendar of a local liquor company in 2007. The female celebrity who was on the chubby side was Photoshopped to appear sexy, according to Acidcow. However, someone leaked the unretouched images to the embarrassment of the actress who did not protest the digital manipulation.
