Industry training programs for 10,000 Chinese students will be given by Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) subsidiary Asiamet Executive Education Centre Sdn Bhd.

The project is a result of Asiamet and Big Benefit Q (BBQ) Global Connection's collaborative venture. Big Benefit Q is a Chinese institution that supports public welfare and sustainable business improvement.

Big Benefit Q and Asiamet convened at the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) 2014 that was held in Nanning, China. The event was put together by the Malaysian External Trade Corporation (MATRADE).

Siva Kumar Jeyapalan, an executive chairman of Asiamet, and Jason Lin Yaoxian, founder of BBQ, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the training at the Menara Matrade on Oct. 29.

The BBQ founder said that the joint venture to train students from China is done for them to be better prepared in the world of entrepreneurship once they go back to China.

The founder also said, before signing the MoU, that being a graduate in accounting, business, finance and other related fields is not enough to succeed, as new graduates should be put into an authentic setting that is both realistic and global.

According to Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud, Deputy Chief Executive of MATRADE, the venture will help in the advancement of export education services from Malaysia to China.

The chosen 10,000 students from China will be developed in fields of entrepreneurship, retailing and franchising at AMU, according to Datuk Jayles Yeoh, Asiamet Deputy Chief Executive.

The first batch of 500 Chinese students will be sent in March 2015 and will stay at AMU for one year.
