"The Last Witch Hunter" is an action-packed supernatural film with Vin Diesel in the titular role. It combines supernatural components and elemental magic. The movie also puts the audience on a constant time travel from modern day New York City to the Middle Ages.
On this movie, Diesel plays the role of Kaulder, a witch hunter. The movie depicted witches as the ones responsible for the proliferation of the Black Death and Kaulder, along with other witch hunters, are hunting them in order to avenge their loved ones who fell victim to the plague, according to Vulture.
Kaulder was able to kill the Witch Queen. However, the witch was able to cast a spell of immortality on Kaulder cursing him to walk to Earth for all of eternity.
Kaulder is known among witches as The Weapon. He spent many centuries hunting down witches who use magic on humans which, on the context of the film, is the ultimate sin, according to Wired.
The originally presumed-dead Witch Queen is trying to come back from the afterlife and kill everyone. In order to prevent this plot from happening, Kauler employs the help of a witch named Chole, played by Rose Leslie, and the 37th Dolan, played by Elijah Wood.
The film opened on Oct. 23 alongside "Rock the Kasbah," "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" and "Jem and the Holograms." Projections claim that the film will gross $13 million from more than three thousand screens but only managed $525,000 on its Thursday night preview. The film recorded $3.7 million on its opening day.
