Huawei is one of the first firms to invest in the research and development of 5G technology.

China's largest networking company Huawei is about to invest £5 million ($7.9 million) in the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom to build the first-ever 5G test center in the world. This university is known for having the world's most outstanding facility to conduct researches regarding 5G.

The company said that the investment is just part of their $600-million original investment dedicated to research and other things related to 5G that they plan to achieve by 2018.

5G is the next level system for mobile technology, better than the 4G the world has right now.

There are no specific details yet as to what features and improvements 5G technology has to offer. However, this technology has already been released in the United States and soon will be experienced around the world in the years to come.

Developing the technology is one huge reason why Huawei wants to be the first in line about this innovation. The success of the research conducted for this project would result to Huawei being the only company to have access to a 5G test facility, which can be found in the University campus.

The company expects the test center to be finished in about a year, and it plans to build it in three different phases. The goal is to have the first phase done by 2015 so it can cater to the company's researchers and business partners.

Once the center is established, over 17,000 students can finally experience 5G technology that will be available in the entire university.
