It is true that the Lumia 1020 is yet to be out there in the market, but its publicized features already found a similarity in the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL which is also billed for release sometime soon. A Windows 10 phone, the camera technology inbuilt into these phones makes it usable for professional photography among others.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 among others in its family is Microsoft's answer to the market domination of iOS and Android phones, amongst whom the Lumia has been struggling to find its feet. With a greatly revamped software experience and sleek design, the Lumia 950 takes off where other phones of its ilk ended their intelligence.

Since Android and iOS has millions of fans globally, it is not clear how Windows phone would hope to win away all these ardent loyalists, and then Android together with iOS fans seem harder to break when considering all factors that go into phone choice and dedication to brands.

The "Lumia 950 was actually designed to bridge the gap between hardware and software existing with Android, and to simulate an ecosystem similar to that present in the Apple world of devices," said a tech analyst with a geek site. "Mac users won't have anything to gain from the Lumia 950 and its Windows 10 integration features, but they might be interested in the camera."

One of the many complaints of Android users who attempt switching to Windows Lumia phones is that it does not have as many apps as those in the Android community enjoy, yet these are the folks Microsoft is targeting with the Lumia 950 and other high-end mobiles from the company.

For instance, Lumia phones do not have Gmail, Snapchat, Pinterest, Instagram and others pre-installed just as Android does, and users have to start downloading these applications to be able to use them; something feelers indicate that developers are already working on.

But then the quality of photos or videos taken by Windows phones or Lumia phones remains unmatched by other phones. Apple and Samsung upgraded their camera technology in their recent mobiles, but this appears to be a far cry from that of the Lumia 950.

For instance, the Galaxy Note 5 has a 16 MP sensor with OIS, the iPhone 6S Plus comes with a 12 iSight camera and the new Motorola Droid Turbo 2 gets a 21 MP camera. The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL both get a 20 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization and triple-RGB flash. Meaning that the technology of the Lumia cameras is their main selling point since it could be used for near professional photography.

It is not clear when Lumia 950 or 950 XL and 1020 will be released into the market, but indications on Windows Store show Lumia 950 XL is $650 and Lumia 950 is $550, with the best of Windows 10 technology.
