The Milwaukee Bucks selected UNLV Runnin' Rebels standout Rashad Vaughn with their 17th overall pick in last June's NBA draft and those close to the 19-year-old wonder boy were actually surprised at how low he was chosen in the annual event.
Fansided mentioned that Vaughn is considered "too good to not be a lottery pick" but what happened already happened, which means it is just time for the 2015 MWC Freshman of the Year awardee to show his stuff on the NBA court to prove who he really is.
The article also disclosed that UNLV associate head coach Todd Simon said "Vaughn would've went higher than 17 overall if not for a torn meniscus suffered in a February game against Fresno State."
A lot of the people within the Bucks' organization reportedly were not expecting him to make any immediate impact in his rookie season, but one person who was already impressed about Vaughn's skills and attitude is none other than head coach Jason Kidd himself.
Basketball Insiders noted that "Vaughn exudes confidence on the court, and you'd never know he's a teenager from watching him play. He's also an incredibly hard worker, which is one reason he believes he's been able to make an impact right away."
Vaughn literally made an impact on his very first preseason game versus the Chicago Bulls when matched up against rising superstar Jimmy Butler.
The 6-foot-6 Minneapolis native scored 20 points on Butler, draining 3-of-6 from three-point range and 8-of-14 overall from the field. As expected, Coach Kidd's attention was captured ever since then.
"He plays with a great demeanor," said the former All-Star point guard and now head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. "He doesn't get up too high and doesn't get too down in the things that he's done. He is showing that he deserves time to play and he'll get it. At 19 years old, he's very mature. He acts a lot older on the court and off the court."
Taking his coach's own words, Milwaukee fans will surely see a lot of the rookie this season and it looks like they will not be disappointed about it.
