There are already thirteen known superheroes in "Captain America: Civil War." Is there room for one more?
It has been confirmed that the filming for the debut of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme will start in November 2015, as Comic Book reported before.
"During press events for 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron,' Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Doctor Strange will begin filming this November.
At an event for bloggers, Feige confirmed 'Doctor Strange,' which will be directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister) and star Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) in the title role, will start filming in November."
It is still possible that a either a cameo of a post-credit scene can be shot and included in "Captain America: Civil War." This is not entirely unfounded as Doctor Strange played a part in the comic book version of Civil War, as recounted by What Culture.
They do point out that Strange did not take sides in the conflict "and was specifically quoted as favouring no side - opting to simply hope for the best outcome for mankind, whatever that may be."
His presence may have turned the tide and considering Scarlet Witch and the powerful Vision are on Iron Man's side, Doctor Strange would have been a major game changer for Captain America's team. But in the comic book version:
"What he did do, however, was house the renegade Avengers in his Sanctum Sanctorum (disguised as a Starbucks under construction) in the aftermath of the the Civil War - and he also joined the New Avengers during that aftermath."
While it is already confirmed that the "Civil War" movie will not follow the comics version because some characters are unavailable, Doctor Strange is, and his existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already been foreshadowed (in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier).
"Doctor Strange" will premiere on November 4, 2016 but it's a safe bet that we will see Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange before that.
