'Halo 6' May Get Split-Screen Feature

| Nov 03, 2015 09:37 AM EST

Halo 6's getting a split screen is because of Halo 5's problem with frame rate.

343 Industries is planning to bring again the split screen feature in “Halo 6,” but it is impossible to patch into "Halo 5: Guardians".

There was a lot of controversy surrounding the lack of split-screen in “Halo 5: Guardians,” but it is reassuring that 343 is listening to player feedback, and is willing to change whatever it can to keep fans happy in the future, according to Trusted Reviews.

The major problem is the creation “Halo 5” where 60 FPS is actually tied into the physics engine of the game itself. Players will not be able to suddenly insert split screen into “Halo 5” and cut the frame rate without destabilizing pretty much everything about how the game works.

Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor said the response to the lack of co-op was big and it is technically impossible for 343 to make the feature to the current game title. O’Connor said that the number of people who regularly play local co-op is relatively small compared to the total player base. The plan of bringing back the split screen does not have concrete details, but the company is not leaving it totally, Forbes reported.

American video game developer made the decision to drop split-screen from “Halo 5: Guardians” to focus on visual performance and fidelity.

O’Connor also added that now that “Halo 5” has officially launched, there’s really no way they could bring the feature to this game. He understands just how disappointed some fans and players are about the lack of the ability to see that in this game.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is now available exclusively on Xbox One.
