‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ Wins Golden Joystick 2015 Ultimate Game Of The Year Award

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Polish: Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon) is an action role-playing video game set in an open world environment, developed by Polish video game developer CD Projekt RED.

When all was said and done, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" went home triumphantly after winning the highly coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2015.

Aside from winning the Game of the Year award, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" also snatched other awards including Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design. The game's Bloody Baron quest also won the Best Gaming Moment award. "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" developer, CD Projekt RED, won the Studio of the Year award.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was vying to the title against some of the best video games released in recent memory. According to Games Radar, the game went against critically praised games like "Batman Arkham Knight" and "Life Is Strange, which took the second and third place respectively. Other nominees for the award include "Destiny," "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," and "Bloodborne."

One other top winner at the Golden Joystick Awards 2015 is "Grand Theft Auto 5" which picked up four awards. "Grand Theft Auto 5" won the Innovation of the Year award for its first-person mode. Other accolades include Best Multiplayer award for "Grand Theft Auto Online," Best PC Game and the PlayFire Most Played award.

The Best Original Game and Best PlayStation Game was awarded to "Bloodborne." The independently developed single player platform game "Ori and the Blind Forest" won the Best Audio award and the Best Xbox Game award. The Critics' Choice award was handed to "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."

Nintendo executive Satoru Iwata, who passed away in July, was posthumously awarded with a Lifetime Achievement award, according to BBC.
