Starting August next year, the second unit of Fuqing nuclear power plant located in east China's Fujian Province will commence operations, local authorities said.

The nuclear plant's first unit was installed on Aug. 20 this year, while the third unit and fourth unit will be connected to the power grid in Feb. 2016 and March 2017, respectively, the provincial state-owned assets supervision and administration commission said.

In addition, the commission said that the plant will have six pressurized water reactors.

The plant is expected to cover China's annual revenue of 17 billion yuan ($2.77 billion) with its power generation capacity of 45 billion kilowatt-hours. After the six units have been successfully installed three years from now, 30,000 people will be employed for its operations.

Electric companies like China National Nuclear Power Co. Ltd., Fujian Investment and Development Group Co. Ltd., and Huadian Fuxin Energy Corp. hold a joint venture of 51 percent, 10 percent and 39 percent, respectively.

Another power station situated in Ningde City, Fujian Province, has operated since April 1, 2013 with its first generating unit; its second unit was installed in May this year.

In a report from the National Nuclear Safety Administration in June, China is one of the biggest nuclear power nations in the world, with 19 nuclear units currently operating and 29 units more to open.
