Twitter unveiled new tools to help its users flag abusive and offensive content on the microblogging site.

The social network, which observes over 500 million tweets sent every day, is expecting that the new tools will simplify the flagging and removing process for inappropriate content on Twitter.

The new tool is a one-click button which will redirect Twitter users to a page where they can input details regarding the abusive content. The previous process required more information and more clicks.

Twitter said that it has also added a new tool on the site's back end to help them in reviewing the reported accounts and tweets. The new flagging process for users is expected to make reporting easier even for those who are not the victims of the abusive content.

According to Twitter, the new tool update is being tested by a few users and is expected to be launched globally in a few weeks.

An addition to the new tools by Twitter is a page where a user can view the list of blocked users. Twitter said that blocked accounts will not be able to find or view the profile of a user who blocked them.

"We'll be adding more controls and features to this page in the coming months," said Twitter in the announcement.

Twitter also released new features in November which allowed users to share tweets privately via its direct message feature. Other features were also announced during Twitter's Analyst Day, including new timeline additions and longer video uploads support.
