To spread awareness on drug control and AIDS prevention, the Yunnan Women's Federation and Yunnan Arts University showcased several artistic works during the celebration of 27th World AIDS Day on Dec. 1.

In line with the hardwork they had over the past few years, the Yunnan Women's Federation wanted to educate people on their advocacy through their artworks and by giving out pamphlets with information about their campaign on drug control and AIDS prevention. Several activities were also held during the event.

It was on July 26, the same day commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, when the women's organization partnered with the university in collecting artworks of different medium depicting the theme of their advocacy.

By actively taking part on drug control and AIDS prevention, women can fight against drug abuse and the disease, the Federation said.

Currently, Yunnan Women's Federation has 6,400 teams and 12 million women participants for volunteer activities.

Local volunteer team leader Jin Muling said that she had a team of 18 women participants to lead in fighting against drug abuse and AIDS prevention. She imparted knowledge to former drug users through lectures and helped them change their perception on it.

AIDS and drug addiction still belong to the world's top leading causes of deaths as of 2013.
