‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Sequels ‘Fifty Shades Darker,’ ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ To Film Side By Side Under Director James Foley

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are set to reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" sequels "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" are set to film back to back.

Sources to The Wrap that "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequels "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" would be both shot next year, with "Glengarry Glen Ross" director James Foley set to helm the film. The publication added that the sequels would see Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively.

Foley succeeds Sam Taylor-Johnson, who directed the first film "Fifty Shades of Grey," as per Daily Mail. Aside from his 1992 drama film "Glengarry Glen Ross," Foley is also known for his works including the 1996 drama thriller "Fear" and the crime thriller films "Confidence" and "Perfect Stranger." He also directs the mystery sci-fi series "Wayward Pines" and the drama series "Billions."

"Fifty Shades Darker" follows Grey as his fight his inner demons while Steele must face the wrath and envy of the women from Grey's past. The film stars Johnson, Dornan, Max Martini, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes, and Victor Rasuk, among others.

Meanwhile, "Fifty Shades Freed" is set to be the third installment of the film trilogy. It will see Johnson, Dornan, Ora, and Grimes, among others. Exact details on the cinematic plot, addition characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.

Along with Foley set to helm the sequels, "Horatio Hornblower 3" writer and E.L. James' husband Niall Leonard is on board to pen the screenplay based on James' bestselling novel of all time "Fifty Shades of Grey." Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are also set to return to co-produce the sequels.

According to the Wrap, the release pattern of the film trilogy grounds on the romantic Valentine's Day event. Foley's "Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017 while "Fifty Shades Freed" hits theaters on Feb 9, 2018.
