Pau Gasol

The NBA Trade Rumors continue for the Chicago Bulls-probably one of the teams that is most often mentioned.

It's not a knock on the Bulls. In fact, being involved in trade rumors means a team has assets that other teams covet. Teams like the Brooklyn Nets would envy the attention being showered on Chicago.

Pau Gasol had his resurgence in Chicago, but the Bulls may have different needs as they now have a new coach and a new philosophy. According to Blog A Bull, the fans want to trade Pau for a back-up point guard because their guards are simply not working out.

The Bulls guard rotation of Derrick Rose (playing with basically one eye), Aaron Brooks, E'Twaun Moore and Kirk Hinrich has been "a disaster," according to another Blog A Bull post. Thus, the clamor to use their rich frontcourt to improve their backcourt begun.

The usual trade suspects would be the Boston Celtics. They have a plethora of point guards, and the possible trade targets could be Avery Bradley or Isaiah Thomas.

Avery Bradley has been mentioned in trade rumors for more than a year and Isaiah Thomas, who's already on his third team in the NBA was rumored to be one of the players that could be moved before the trade deadline according to Sports Cheat Sheet.

The site mentioned that there are a number of guards that the Celtics can offer, but they'll have to choose one to keep between Marcus Smart and Isaiah Thomas. They believe that Boston is leaning towards Smart because of "the fact that Thomas is 26 and Smart is just 21, meaning that trading Thomas could be the better long-term plan to bring back more assets and build around Smart."

Will the Bulls make this trade? Gasol is still one of the most skilled big men in the league but he already has a lot of years on him. However, as a mentor for the Celtics young bigs and a stopgap until Boston gets the big man of the future. Draft picks will definitely change hands to make this trade work.
