Mere hours before his scheduled announcement, 5-star power forward Edrice "Bam" Adebayo is rumored to be swaying from North Carolina State to Kentucky.
The NCAA Recruiting landscape saw University of Kentucky coach John Calipari weaving his magic again.
After cornering the De'Aaron Fox, the top point guard of the 2016 class, recently committed to the Wildcats.
However, NC State has the other top point guard in Dennis Smith, Jr. a close friend of Adebayo. Smith and Adebayo were rumored to have agreed on a "package deal" similar to Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor with Duke, and we know how that ended.
The Fayetteville Observer reported that the tide has indeed turned.
"According to multiple sources, in-state power forward Bam Adebayo now favors Kentucky over N.C. State and has plans to commit to the Wildcats on Tuesday. He had long been considered a near lock to join fellow Class of 2016 recruit Dennis Smith Jr. in Raleigh."
North Carolina State head coach Mark Gottfried went to great lengths to recruit both Smith and Adebayo, even visiting them via chopper. When Dennis Smith committed to the Wolfpack last September, Adebayo's commitment was expected to follow soon.
But it never came, and now 24/7 Sports has reported that the last 10 predictions in their Crystal Ball for Adebayo has swayed towards Kentucky.
"The intel coming to 247Sports is that despite having played for an adidas sponsored travel team and being the teammate of N.C. State commitment Dennis Smith, Adebayo has personally favored Kentucky since John Calipari started recruiting him and desires the player development of the Wildcats program."
Will Kentucky grab another top recruit?
