China, through Premier Li Keqiang, vowed on Dec. 16 to improve relations between China and Slovakia in different fields and to take their bilateral relations to another level.

Acclaiming the improvement of the relationship between the two countries, Li told his Slovak counterpart, Prime Minister Robert Fico, that China is set to further develop their relationship on the basis and foundation of mutual benefit and respect, equality and win-win results.

Li said that China supports those participating in the development of nuclear and hydropower, those involved in highway improvement projects, and those partaking in the industrial parks construction in Slovakia. Li calls for Slovakia to do the same and give such entities a fair share of support.

As a member of the China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, Li said that China is ready to combine efforts with Slovakia in organizing the second seminar on technological innovation cooperation and international technology transfer between CEE countries next year.

Fico, on the other hand, said that Slovakia is as willing as China to upgrade their bilateral relations to foster more collaborations.

Fico said further that Slovakia would put the China-CEE Investment Cooperation Fund to good use. It would be utilized to strengthen cooperation with China in nuclear and hydropower, culture, tourism and highway systems.

The convenience for companies based in China to invest more and for Chinese financial institutions to create offices in his country was also guaranteed by the Slovak prime minister.

Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made a similar pledge on Dec. 8 when he met with Fico and Parliament Speaker Peter Pellegrini.

Both countries should take advantage of the chance to enhance cooperation between CEE countries to strengthen the likeness of their interests and realize prosperity for all involved, Wang said.
