Marvel Cinematic Universe is seemingly earning big this year with the highly anticipated movie, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" becoming the highest grossing film of 2015.
The Avenger that received the fattest check is Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). he received a relatively huge sum of $40 million for playing the billionaire superhero, according to Comic Book Movie.
The publication as well revealed that Downey Jr. was voted the highest paid actor by Forbes two year ago, and the revelation appears unsurprising.
Avengers' salaries revealed by the publication show that Hollywood's best actress, Scarlett Johansson, earned $20 million for portraying The Black Widow. The rest of the superheroes including Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Memsworth), and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) earned $6.9M, $6.1M, $5.4M, and $2.8M respectively.
There is a clear variation between Downey Jr.'s paycheck and that of Ruffalo. According to Cinema Blend, this could be the reason behind Hulk always being angry in addition to allegedly exiting the movie franchise.
On the other hand, Johansson's earnings could be justifiable since she is one of the Avengers' oldest member, giving her a "prolific resume outside the MCU." The Black Widow joined "Iron Man 2" in 2010 and played a crucial role in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
While Johansson's character has not been premiered in a standalone movie yet, the publication cited that "Black Widow" has become significant to the very fabric of the Marvel Cinematic Universe," and her paycheck most certainly depicts it.
