It has been confirmed that the new Toyota Tacoma will debut at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in 2015. Toyota has already publicized a sizable amount of photos to confirm the years of speculation about the release of the highly-anticipated truck.

Toyota's decision to reveal its newest truck might have been instigated by the introduction of the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon. This move from Toyota is obviously a strategy to maintain its reign as the undisputed king of the midsize truck market. It's also a warning for newcomers to not take the truck company lightly.

To let the public wet its appetite for the new truck, Toyota has released a photo of the Tacoma's front corner, showing off its new body framework, front lights and the design of its fog light. While looking fresh, the style looks convincingly new compared to the current generation of the truck in the market. It is important to note that the truck received a total visual overhaul in 2012 but remained hinged to its mechanical aspect.

A lot of speculation is going on around what it's going to be under the hood of the new Toyota Tacoma. The best bet probably is a six-speed automatic that will replace both the four-speed and the five-speed automatic present in the I-4 and V-6 models, without dropping the six-speed manual option as well.

On the engine side, rumors have it that the new Tacoma will convert to the direct-fuel-injection for both the automatic and the manual variants. A midrange engine in the form of a turbo-charged I-4 is also being put into much deliberation, although rare, Toyota has already released a turbo-charged version for its 22R engine late in the 1980's before introducing to the market their flagship 3.0L V-6.

The Toyota Tacoma has been consistently holding its ground to be the best-selling midsized pickup truck for the last 10 years and new Toyota Tacoma 2016 is slated to continue that streak.
