Krysten Ritter plays the title role in "Jessica Jones" TV series.

Following the events in "Jessica Jones" season 1 premiere, the series continues to set up its storyline for the rest of the season, as well as the upcoming "Luke Cage" series in episode 2.

"Jessica Jones" season 1 episode 2 titled "AKA Crush Syndrome" opened with Jones (Krysten Ritter) being asked about the dual murder of Hope Shlottman's (Erin Moriarty) parents, who hired the earlier to find their daughter. Hope, who was reported to be under Kilgrave's (David Tennant) control, was responsible for the murder.

Jones was traumatized by Kilgrave the same manner Hope had been, so she pledged to find a way to stop the villain and his evil plans. The titular hero decided Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) to defend Hope while she looked for evidence of Kilgrave's existence, as well as a way to stop him.

"AKA Crush Syndrome" proved Jones' motivation to live her life normally despite the mental assault she had undergone from Kilgrave's hands. Although she was a victim, Jones did not act like one, as she knew that the harms she had should not happen to someone else.0

Jones and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) are also set to discover that they both have abilities, which stands as a great link between "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage." Jones reveals that she was snooping on Cage, which is evidenced by the latter's photos in Jones' office.

Cage's bar is also visited by his woman's husband, who brings with him company. They attack the bar and stab his neck with a broken bottle but he survives the attack without a scratch. He reveals to Jones his abilities by taking an electric saw to his abs and burning out the sawblade. This is assumed to start the bond between the two characters.

Marvel's strategy of setting up its villain had been effective in the first few episodes of "Jessica Jones." The events in "AKA Ladies Night" gave a tinge on what Kilgrave was capable of doing while "AKA Crush Syndrome" allowed the show to build up and silently introduce the villain.

Marvel started using the approach in the first few hours of "Daredevil," where the series set up the foundation for Wilson Fisk. The first triad of hours has highlighted how Fisk could stretch the dark moves he was capable of doing, which was followed by his introduction in a simple scene.

Following the events in the first two episodes, Jones is set to discover a weapon she can use against Kilgrave in "Jessica Jones" episode 1 season 3 titled "AKA It's Called Whiskey."
