The World Wide Web is bombarded with news stating that the U.S.-based Cable Company Time Warner Cable, commonly known as Time Warner, will effectively raise its equipment and services fees come January 2015.

According to 9wsoctv, a TWC spokesperson confirmed that the increase will be implemented to its 50 million subscribers all over the United States in January. According to reports, this move by the cable giant is to compensate the increasing cost of broadcasting sports or athletic programming - which has increased 91 percent since 2008 - and local channels, which increased by 60 percent since 2012.

Syracuse reports that the increase will include digital adapter from 99 cents to $2.75, Broadcast TV surcharge from $2.25 to $2.75, Discounted channel guide from $2.77 to $3.27, Internet modem lease from $5.99 to $8, HBO from $14.95 to $16.99, Movie Pass from $7.25 to $8.99 and Sports programming surcharge from zero to $2.75.

It is worthy to note that this will be the first time for the U.S.-based cable giant to charge its subscribers with Sports programming surcharge and that the modem lease fee and Broadcast TV surcharge were implemented not too long ago.

All of these fee hike will be implemented on Jan. 1, except for those who are in a promotional package, in which, many of their consumers are. Once their promotional package expires, that will be the time those fee increase will take on effect.

According to a TWC spokesperson, these fees being implemented will be a great help as they will be able to continue deploying fast equipment and services to its consumers.

Time Warner Cable is the second largest American cable telecommunications company that is serving 29 states with 31 operating divisions. It was originally under Warner Communications, a parent company for Warner Bros. Pictures, which later named as Time Warner - a film and television production company and cable service provider. On March 2009, Time Warner made a corporate spin-off where the cable services was made an entirely independent company but continued using Time Warner brand.
