This week, the Walt Disney World in Orlando announces that they will be accepting Apple pay and Google wallet as payments for the theme park starting Dec. 24, Wednesday.
Disney amusement park shops will be accepting such payments. Restaurants, bars, stores, and ticket booths are included. The only ones that are not yet accepting Apply pay and Google wallet are those stores and shops that use portable pay terminals as of date. The rest are amenable to the new payment scheme.
Disney World has already begun its transition to contact-less payment with their ticketing system. Their new mobile payment will be using RFID system which is already in place for the theme park's MyMagic+ program that is inclusive of a waterproof wrist band ticket where guests can use as their payment to items they buy and also for foods.
The Walt Disney World is the largest among the six theme parks owned and operated by Walt Disney entertainment which accommodates around 18 million visitors each year. The entertainment giant is also planning to start the said payment system to their smaller theme park based in California anytime next year.
Apple Pay is being universally accepted and has been trusted by many as compared to its competitors like Google Wallet and Softcard. Disney has been one of the first companies who went on-board with Apple pay since its launching last October in the US. They also agreed to outfit all of its shops to support the payment system.
Also, Apple Pay claimed last week that it added new listing of banks and shops that will accept the payment scheme. They also started to support credit cards as well.
