Sony Pictures Entertainment received thousands of criticisms from Hollywood personalities, film enthusiasts, and President Obama following the premier cancellation of the satirical movie "The Interview", which stars Seth Rogen and James Franco.
In response to this, the company has resorted to hiring the crisis management expert Judy Smith to control the damages that were brought about by a cyber attack- a threat believed to have been sent from North Korea. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Smith will work hand-in-hand with Amy Pascal, the company's motion pictures chairwoman, in dealing with the mess that came after the cancellation decision.
Smith was able to earn a credible reputation as the former US President Bush's deputy press secretary. Also, she has got her own film which deals with all sorts of crisis management. Her expertise has served several celebrities as Monica Lewinsky, NFL's Michael Vick, and the actor Wesley Snipes.
President Obama has made a few critical comments regarding the company's decision not to release the film. Sony Pictures answered the President by saying that they did not have a choice since most theaters have preferred not to show it. Major theater chains pulled the move after the cyber hackers warned them that anyone who attends the opening on Christmas Day will be at risk.
Despite the unplanned cancellation, Sony has released a statement that they are considering the option of distributing "The Interview" through other platforms like online video streaming. Now that everyone's intrigued by the movie, Sony Pictures will still deliver it to the public.
