The Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall has started his sneakers' free agency and Under Armour appears to be the frontrunner to sign him to a new shoe-deal.

Wall is now available to sign with any sneaker company after his contract with Adidas expired on Sept. 30.

Wall's history of playing for Kentucky, a school familiar with perks from Nike, hints he may sign with the swoosh sneakers, but according to Sneaker News, Under Armour is the frontrunner to land a deal with the Wizards point guard.

The report noted that UA "will make a push to sign Wall" as the sneaker brand needs to expand its basketball reach following the Stephen Curry's signature UA line.

It also added that the Baltimore-based company has strong presence in Washington D.C., which could be beneficial for both parties, given that Wall is close to the proximity of the UA's office.

If Wall joins the Under Armour sneaker family, he the second biggest NBA star next to Curry and ahead of the likes of Kemba Walker, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Patty Mills.

Nike, on the other hand, only has limited offers for Wall, with a swoosh sneaker line coming soon for Paul George and Anthony Davis. It is also worth noting that James Harden, who is now sporting Adidas, was with Nike during his All-Star season in the last two years, but did not get any signature shoes from the company.

However, Wall does not seem to be focused on his next signature shoe as he is more concentrated in helping the Wizards win.

"My main focus is just play basketball. I let my agents and marketing team and them negotiate and talk," Wall told the Washington Post. "I'm just trying to focus on the season and not worry about what's going on off the court and play basketball."
