Hideo Kojima announced that there will be a special wearable chicken hat with a special ability in the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
Fans of the Metal Gear Solid series have been anticipating the announcement of the upcoming video game's release date from Kojima.
According to Kotaku, The Metal Gear Solid creator held a live stream called the "Kojima Station" that lasted three hours long on Friday. At around the later part of the stream, specifically about two hours and 40 minutes in, Instead of announcing the much anticipated game's release date, Kojima revealed a new feature for the Metal Gear Solid V players. Kojima pulled out a picture of snake wearing a chicken hat.
Aside from being silly in appearance, players who wear the chicken hat might be humiliated as it is only unlockable or given to players who will have difficulties in playing the fifth Metal Gear Solid.
Kotaku reports that if a player dies or gets caught many times in the stealth video game, it will ask the player if he/she would like to use the chicken cap.
If a player chooses to wear the chicken hat and let the game call them a chicken, the enemy artificial intelligence (AI) will react to snake slower. The chicken hat also glows in the dark for easier vision of Snake's surroundings.
However, wearing the chicken hat means that Snake will also look silly even during serious cutscenes.
Kojima commented on the YouTube video of the stream, asking the fans if they "rike it" with a "HAHAHAHA" in the end.
The fans responded with mixed reactions, with some saying that the love Kojima's humor, while some called Kojima the "biggest punk" for wasting 3 hours of their time.
