It's the first time, a game in "The Legend of Zelda" series has received a 12+ rating from PEGI, owing to its additional violent sequences and carnage. The game's Wii version was released on Nov. 19, 2009 in the U.S. and a fortnight later in Japan.

The latest HD version of the game, "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD," features a storyline entailing Link and his mission to prevent the Kingdom of Hyrule from being captivated and overruled by the lights of dark forces of the Twilight Realm, existing in a parallel dimension.
