Mark Ronson's song "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars bagged the number one spot in theUK Music Chart, Reuters reported.

The song maintained its number one spot for three non-consecutive weeks and gained 2.5 million audio streams for the past seven days. "Uptown Funk" also sold 156,000 copies and earned over 72 million hits on YouTube.

Aside from the UK singles chart, the track also landed on the top spot for Digital Songs chart.  Since 2010 Mars managed to have a number one song on the chart every year.  "Uptown Funk" is his seventh number one track in Digital Songs, Yahoo Music reported.

On the Hot 100 chart, the Ronson and Mars collaboration was at number three for two weeks.

"It's pretty much the coolest thing ever," Ronson told OfficialCharts.com about the success of "Uptown Funk."

The release of the hit song became a surprise because it debuted prematurely. The track was set to be released on Jan. 11, The Guardian reported.

Early in December 2014, Fleur East performed "Uptown Funk" at X Factor Live and so Ronson had to launch the track ahead of time. East's version became number one on iTunes and the contestant apologized to Ronson in an interview with BBC Newsbeat.

"Yeah I'm really sorry, but all I can say is it's props to all their creative hard work because it's an amazing song. I think they were like, 'Oh what's happened here?' So they had to speed up the release," East said.

The X Factor candidate also expressed that she would like Ronson's version to be number one since it is his track. Other reports say that the whole performance was a set-up since Ronson is somehow connected with Simon Cowell.

Set-up or not, "Uptown Funk" proved to be a hit and even defeated Philip George, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith in the UK music chart.
