A lot of criticism has been thrown to LG about its claim to be the biggest OLED TV manufacturer in the world. Most critics say that at the moment, LG is the "only" manufacturer of OLED TV, and according to official reports from LG, they have no plans of stopping and this will go on for years to come.

During LG's CES 2015 presentation, an LG representative took the stage and went on to defend the current market value of OLED TV and its impact in the future of ultra-high definition TV's.

OLED or Organic Light Emitting Diode is an organic compound that emits light every time an electric current is present.

Theoretically, OLED display will be significantly cheaper to produce compared to LCD or plasma displays but this is yet to be decided since not many company are into the research and development of OLED technology. Right now, majority of flat screen display manufacturers used the Quantom Dot technology; even LG uses the same technology in its LCD TV's.

According to Tim Alessi, LG's Director of Product Development, OLED definitely has much more potential and technical advantages compared to LCD displays. LCD screens still used cathode-ray tubes to render pictures in its screen, OLED on the other hand used light-emitting diode, it may not be that massive but LED's are cheaper to produce and consumes less electricity compared to its direct competition.

Furthermore, Alessi claimed that OLED TV's can produce more vivid and brilliantly contrasted colors compared to LCD since OLED TV's can produce an almost perfect black.

During the course of this year, LG plans to unveil five new OLED TV. The new TV's will be available in different sizes, ranging from 55 inch up to 65 inch. However, the best part of LG's announcement was to upcoming 77 inch flexible TV, according to LG this TV can change from flat to curve and vice versa.
