Actress Scarlett Johansson has agreed to star in the action movie "Ghost in the Shell." The gorgeous actress is all set to play the character of Motoko Kusanagi in the remake of the critically famed Masamune Shirow Manga.

There have been numerous rumors in the last few months that the producers had approached the 30-year-old actress for the role but nothing was confirmed. However, now she has signed on the dotted line and has given her confirmation for the Dreamsworks adaptation of the Japanese anime.

Other reports claim that she has been offered $10 million for the role though there has been no official confirmation of the same from the actress' representatives.

The movie is going to be directed by Rupert Sanders, who is well-known for his directing skills on "Snow White and Huntsman." Bill Wheeler is writing the script and the producers are Avi Arad and Steven Paul with Mark Sourian as the executive producer.

The original series was created by Masamune Shirow in 1989 and it traces the life of Motoko Kusanagi, who is a member of the cyber-terrorist organization. The organization specializes in fighting and knocking down cycber-crimes. The series was such a super-hit that it was adapted into a film in the year 1995 and almost a decade later, it got another reprise with an animated sequel.

Besides "Ghost in the Shell," Johansson is also scheduled to appear in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and would also be an integral part of the comedy Hail Caesar in the coming year.
