Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC News Update: Cloud Strife December Release Date Looms As Feature Upgrades Center On Balanced Gameplay

Nintendo has confirmed that the next Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC character is Cloud Strife.

Super Smash Bros. 4 is likely to welcome Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII as a new Smasher this December as a new report indicates that the upcoming game expansion will focus on balanced gameplay. Two events hint that the Super Smash update release date will happen this month.

Cloud and the new things that he will bring from FF7 to Super Smash could be revealed before middle of December, that is if Nintendo chooses the unwrapping to happen via this month's edition of the Nintendo Direct. The November Direct broadcast was November 12 so the next airing should be around the same date.

Or Nintendo could reveal Cloud and what the Super Smash game expansion is all about through The Game Awards. In the past, the Japanese game maker lets out important news updates using the event as a platform so key revelations could be provided this December 2015 edition, Christian Today said in a new report.

And what to expect of Cloud Strife? At least a new Super Smash flavor if the November Nintendo Direct is anything to go by, something that is akin to the Final Fantasy setting. Cloud will be outfitted depending on the mode in in effect, to match with the iconic Buster Sword.

There has to be an FF7-related stage and Midgar has been widely teased as another Super Smash add-on to arrive with Cloud. And the familiar Cloud Strife moves will surely regale Smashers and one that the Christian Today report mentioned is "the fabled Omnislash technique."

All these things, according to Design & Trend, will start shaping up during the Christmas month with the report citing the recent statement made by Masahiro Sakurai as source. "Cloud will be joining the fray! I'll explain more in the special December presentation," Sakurai was quoted by the same report as saying.

Sakurai, of course, is the Super Smash creator and Design & Trend reported too that he shared bits of information on the upcoming game update. The core of which is to achieve a balanced gameplay that players, casual and advanced, will appreciate.

"This is a strategy that his team reportedly employs when tweaking Super Smash Bros.," the report said.
