"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder was recently slammed by fans for allegedly using his former co-star and ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder may have used Dobrev to help promote the seventh season of the hit The CW series.

Throughout the past couple of weeks, Somerhalder has once again been linked to Dobrev.

However, the publication noted that there's really nothing going on between the two.

Meanwhile, in an interview with E! News, Somerhalder urged fans to not worry too much about Damon especially now that Elena is no longer around.

"All I can say about that is that they were great characters separate, they were great characters together, and they remain great characters separated," he said.

In other news, there have been rumors that Somerhalder will be leaving "The Vampire Diaries" after season 7.

CDL said that the actor was just toying with this information so that fans will be hooked to watching the show.

"Perhaps this is why Ian is allegedly toying with the idea of leaving 'The Vampire Diaries,' but we all know Ian won't leave TVD unless he is fired or gets a major deal," the publication noted.

In fact, even Somerhalder himself has been inconsistent with his statements. During an interview, the actor said that Damon is still here and he will continue to evolve.

"He's still having a blast and he's still super smarmy, ridiculously over confident, very wildly embarrassing and degrading things and he will continue to do that, but with a little love for Elena in his heart," he said.
