58% Adults In America Are On Facebook: Survey

Pew Research Center has released their survey about social media use, which revealed that some 58% of the American adult population have Facebook profiles.

According to the research, the most used of all social media online is Facebook, and its growth and upgrades may have slowed a bit but its users keep increasing.

Facebook's users have increased in the previous year which included adults and the the social networking site remains the most popular and most used social media platform in the United States today.

The research is based only at the US' 81% adults who uses the internet, it covers ¾ of the online adults have been using Facebook. Other social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram are those widely used as well but not as much as Facebook.

Nicole Ellison, a professor of Information Science at the University of Michigan, said that Facebook has become a one-stop shop for many users who interact with others online. Facebook's features like email, chat, photo publishing, shout-out, online ads, online shop are just a few to mention that many users enjoy.

Facebook has become the default social site today. Almost everyone uses it anytime and anywhere. People can be seen using Facebook while waiting in line at the post office. 

The number of Facebook users may not have increased since 2013 but the usage of the active members have increased. Around 70% of these users go check on their profiles once a day, 45% users check it more than once daily, and around 63% are Facebook's daily users in 2014.

By using the social media, seniors were able to find old friends, see their children's photos, and get updated on what is happening with their family over the distance. 

The research revealed the adults who are active on social media use not Facebook as their means of online communication. Some 52% of them have two or more social media profiles; 23% use LinkedIn, 22% use Pinterest, 21% use Instagram, and 19% use Twitter.
