The NBA Trade Rumors have the New York Knicks about to become major players to take a step up.

Despite their struggles in the past few games, Madison Square Garden regulars have never been this hopeful in almost a decade.

Now that Kristaps Porzingis is a certified star in the making, the Knicks should make moves in consideration for him. One of those moves that could prove beneficial in the long run is acquiring Joakim Noah.

In Chicago's site Blog A Bull there is already a clamor to trade either Pau Gasol or Joakim Noah. Noah could no longer bring the defensive energy that became the trademark of his play. However, he does have the experience in having the offense run through him as he is an exceptional passer.

This is why he is perceived to be a good fit for the triangle offense. In the New York Knicks board at Real GM, it was suggested that the Knicks trade Robin Lopez for the Bulls center.

Lopez could still provide defensive energy to the Bulls and he could take over the starting center spot as it's also expected that Pau Gasol would leave the team. The Bulls offense centers around Jimmy Butler and RoLo plays mostly off the ball.

For the Knicks, taking Noah, who is also a Manhattan native, would give them more flexibility as he is an expiring contract. The Knicks could re-negotiate a new, cheaper contract with him at season's end.

It seems like a minor trade for teams that are headed in different directions but it could provide long-term benefits.
