China's worst movie this year will soon be revealed as the sixth Golden Broom Awards recently announced the list of nominations for the worst in the film industry, the Global Times reported on Sunday.

Through online voting, 40 films, 10 directors, 20 actors and actresses and 10 scriptwriters have been nominated. "The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom" and "Tiny Times 3.0" were among the nominees for the Most Disappointing Film Award. These two movies grossed over 100 million yuan ($16 million) in the Chinese mainland.

Meanwhile, "The Breakup Guru," "Tiny Times 3.0" and "Iceman 3D" lead the nominations this year. These three movies have six nominations including the Most Disappointing Film Award. It is also noted that award-winning directors like Wong Jing for the movie "The Man from Macau," John Woo for "The Crossing Part 1" and Jeffrey Lau for "Just Another Margin" were among the nominees for the Most Disappointing Director Award, the Global Times revealed.

Netizens voted popular actors and actresses like Donnie Yen for "Iceman 3D" and "The Monkey King," Nicolas Tse for "But Always" and "The Man from Macau," and Gao Yuanyuan for "But Always." For the Most Disappointing Mid-and-Small Budget Film category, domestic-produced horror films dominated the lists.

The Golden Broom Awards is considered as the Chinese equivalent of the Golden Raspberry Awards in the United States. Chinese film critic Cheng Qingsong along with his Youth Film Handbook magazine launched the first Golden Broom Awards in 2010.

According to Cheng, he and his team want to remind the people of bad films despite their stellar box office. He believes that many people thought that successful films are good films. He just want to emphasize quality control, the website Dgeneratefilms.com reported.
