Last season's winners Chelsea FC (4-9-3, 15 points) will look to avoid relegation to the Football League Championship as it faces bottom three club Sunderland AFC (3-10-3, 12 points) at the Stamford Bridge on Saturday, December 19 for a 2015-2016 Premier League game.

Chelsea continued its plunge into oblivion this season after suffering from their fourth winless effort in their last six games, dropping a heartbreaking 1-2 decision to current league leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday, as per BBC Sport.

Two goals from Leicester's forward Jamie Vardy and midfielder Riyad Mahrez in the game's first 48 minutes buried the Blues into a two-goal deficit with substantial time left in the second half.

Jose Mourinho's squad made a gallant effort to fight back as substitute winger Loïc Rémy scored at the 77th to put his team on the board. However, it was all the Pensioners could do against the unbeatable Foxes.

The defending champions now dropped to 16th place in the overall standings, only two spots above and a point away from the relegation bottom three.

Meanwhile, Sunderland dropped a 0-1 decision to Watford at the Stadium of Light last Saturday, via SkySports.

Hornets' striker Odion Ighalo scored at the fourth minute of the game then both teams went goalless after that as the Black Cats failed to capitalize on the chances given to them.

It was the second straight loss for Sam Allardyce's team after winning two straight.

The predicted result is a tough 2-1 victory for Chelsea. Mourinho and his boys get a break from losing as they squeak a close one at home against lowly club Sunderland.

Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1 formation): Courtois; Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Terry; Hazard, Willian; Ramires, Oscar, Matic; Costa

Sunderland starting lineup (5-4-1 formation): Pantilimon; O'Shea, Yedlin, Jones, van Aanholt, Coates; Watmore, Borini, M'Vila, Toivonen; Fletcher
