Google finally unveiled its domain name shop, which comprises a user-friendly management interface. Dot-com market leader Go-daddy should look out.

The domain-shop's name is Google Domains. It is primarily released to all users within the United States as of date and international users will have access soon. Anyone can register domain names under 80 or so gTLDs (Top Level Domain) from dot academy to dot ventures.

Registration of a domain name ranges from $12 to $30, and costs only $12 to renew annually. Google Domains charges the same amount each year of a domain renewal. A .com domain is renewable for a 10-year subscription while the .co is renewable for 5 years only. A 30-day grace period shall be given to renew an expired domain name at no extra cost besides the renewal fee. However, once it exceeds the grace period, a late fee shall be imposed.

Google has created its own TLDs and the .google represents its entry to the domain name market. The internet giant has applied for brand new TLDs and paid around $185,000 each for 101 dot-types. The company has won the rights to the following internet extensions like .dad, .ads, .fly, .how, .new, .zip, .mov and .rsvp to name a few which is found at Google's registry page.

However, the gTLDs that shall be found on Google's domain shop for now are owned by other registries. An example would be .builders. The .builders is currently owned by Donuts which will be supported by Demand Media Europe as its back-end provider.

Speculations, however, claim that Google may offer domains from its own registry for free. With free hosting, cloud storage, email, chat services, and domain management the web goliath is heading up the same path that Gmail did.
